The STEAM Lab of the Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering integrates the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Makerspace and Computation Laboratory, and brings creative implementation into the field of hydraulic and ocean engineering. The main purpose of this laboratory is to cultivate more “Makers”, so that students have the basic abilities of “design”, “implementation”, “experimentation” and “analysis”, igniting students’ enthusiasm for learning and achieve a positive cyclic-learning mode. This space is equipped with large and small experimental flumes, sufficient hardware tools, practical working tables and computer equipment. It can be up to 12 groups (about 50 to 60 people) to carry out practical activities at the same time. It can also undertake various workshops and education training.
