Professor Jui-Ming Lin is an important poet in Taiwan and a pioneer in the study of the history of Taiwan literature. He was also the student of the first session of the History Department of National Cheng Kung University. He returned to school as a teacher in 1979 and taught there until his retirement. During his teaching period, he promoted the establishment of the Department of Taiwan Literature and the preparation of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature. After his death, the museum and the Department of History jointly promoted the establishment of the memorial Research Office, which was officially opened on November 26,2020 after two years of preparation and planning by Associate Professor Shih-Yuan Hsieh.
For the planning of the laboratory, the core concept is to maintain the original appearance, and almost all the books and furnishings displayed belong to the original laboratory. The books are distinguished by Professor Lin 's three major roles in his life: poet, executive (the first curator of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature) and scholar.
During the process of organizing, students of our department also took part in the process, placing the personal objects of Professor Lin in the cabinet beside the door, so that visitors could have the joy of self-exploration and get to know the different aspects of Professor Lin . In addition, the students had used Professor Lin's handwriting and notes, as well as the chronology of Professor Lin's interview and autobiography,“The Reminiscences of Prof. Lin Jui-Ming” (《奔流》) to create a chronological display case, as like Professor Lin had told his own story.
From the July 1, 2021, the memorial laboratory will be the open space for teaching and exhibition by appointment to promote Professor Lin's spirit of the study of Taiwanese literature and history.
