Orchids are insect-pollinated flowers. The floral morphology, flower color, and floral fragrance of orchids play important roles in the evolution of orchids, and they are also the focus of our laboratory. Our main research direction orchid genomics and the study of functional genomics for floral morphology, flower color, and floral fragrance.  Recently, genomic big data analysis is also applied to orchid research. We have performed whole-genome association studies for the resistance to yellow leaf disease to identify the molecular markers for the resistance to yellow leaf disease for enhancing breeding of resistant lines and promote orchid precision agriculture. These efforts continue to contribute to augment the academic status of orchid biotechnology in Taiwan, and apply it to Phalaenopsis breeding to consolidate the reputation of the orchid breeding kingdom.
