The aim of the Orchid Research and Development Center is to combine the power of industry, government, academia, and research to promote orchid-related research and industry-university cooperation, and to assist the industry to solve problems. The main tasks of the center include:
(1) Establish an international cooperation platform for orchid research, and conduct in-depth dissection on key issues (such as orchid genomes, resistance to yellow leaf disease, biosynthesis and release of floral fragrance, etc.), to enhance the international visibility of Taiwan orchid research.
(2) Industrialize the R&D results of the Phalaenopsis biotechnology research team in Taiwan, promote key technologies, and establish a multi-dimensional orchid biotechnology service platform (such as identification of molecular marker, ploidy analysis, breeding of fragrant Phalaenopsis cultivars, etc.), so as to improve Phalaenopsis production technology to enhance the global orchid marketing competitiveness.
(3) Set up the "Orchid Biotechnology and Cultural Creation Industry-University Alliance" to have the added value of the orchid industry and enhance the strategic development of Taiwan's orchid brand.
We look forward to serving as an important bridge between industry, academia, academia and the public, and to integrate Taiwan's orchid industry cross-field energy at all levels.
