The Non-traditional Stable Isotope Laboratory (NSI), housed in the Department of Earth Sciences, was inaugurated in Fall 2020 supported by a grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology and National Cheng Kung University. The lab director is Dr. Hou-Chun Liu.
NSI explores our planet's environmental and climatic changes through isotopic geochemistry. The laboratory includes a clean laboratory for sample preparation experiments and several instruments for trace element concentration analysis. NSI has technologies for purification and isotopic analysis of many elements and we are committed to improving the efficiency and reliability of these technologies. Furthermore, we have a strong connection with the Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory (IGL) and have established high precision and accuracy methods for non-traditional stable isotope analyses on IGL's Multicollector Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS, Neptune, Thermo-Fisher Scientific). NSI welcomes any form of research collaboration; please find out more about NSI through our webpage.
