Because National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is a well-integrated university with affiliated medical college and hospital, we have the privileges to organize a cross-disciplinary nanomedicine team consisting of experts from basic research, material development, diagnostic/therapeutic system development, prototyping, pre-clinical evaluation, medical translation and early-phase clinical trials. With the supports from the Ministry of Education and NCKU, we have established the Center of Applied Nanomedicine, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU_CAN). NCKU_CAN outreaches its cooperation with National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), and University of California, Los Angele (UCLA) and Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN). In addition, we are establishing a nanotoxicity GLP laboratory. The GLP laboratory is the first one in Taiwan, which will help investigators to examine the effects and toxicities of their nanoproducts under standardized and accredited conditions. Via close interaction with our benchmarking research center-The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, we also extended our international collaboration vigorously. In addition, we will integrate the novel technologies with our excellent clinical capacity and make NCKU_CAN the worldwide leader in the clinical translation of nanomedicine that we plan to build up a world class nanomedical therapy center.。
