BMOEMS was established in the year 2011 by Prof. Han-Sheng Chuang in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University. The major research of BMOEMS include development of various bio electro-mechanical chips and biomechanics of microorganisms. Our biochips are based on optical technologies like REP, OTs, OEW, and DEP. Through biochips we realize idea Point of Care diagnostics, rapid disease screening. The study of biomechanics is carried out on model animal, C. elegans. As a result, they are suitable for genetic engineering, neurological and drug development industries. In order to improve the international outlook and research level of the laboratory, we have maintained long-term and good collaborations with Prof. Jaesung Kwon at INU, Korea, Prof. Hiaroki Sakamoto at Fukui University, Japan, and Dr. Steve Wereley, at Purdue University, U.S.A.
